Help Joi Protect Her Three Nieces After CPS Failures in Texas, Ohio & Georgia

My name is Joi Williams, and today I am asking for your help to save the lives and future of my three nieces—three young girls who have survived years of severe abuse and who are now in danger again because of devastating failures by child protective services across multiple states.

I never imagined I would be in this position. But after everything these children have endured, I cannot—and will not—allow them to be returned to the person who almost destroyed them. I am now fighting a legal battle I cannot afford, and I urgently need your support to hire an attorney who can help me keep these girls safe.

Their Story: Years of Abuse That Should Have Stopped the First Time

The girls were first removed from their mother in Texas after a brutal assault caught on video in April 2024. Neighbors saw and recorded the beating and called police. The mother was arrested, prosecuted,
and convicted of child abuse. Before that, the children were removed in Ohio, where CPS also determined the home was unsafe.
These were not isolated incidents. The abuse continued for years and included:
  • Beatings, kicking, and punching
  • Their heads slammed against brick, concrete, and metal
  • Whippings with extension cords
  • Being choked and threatened with a knife
  • Being left alone for days or weeks with no adult supervision
  • Being forced to care for younger children while terrified and alone
One of the girls described the violence and said:
“If we were sent back, we would not survive. I’m afraid she might kill us.”

For the safety of the children, they were placed with me in Georgia, where I have cared for them ever since. Here, they started school, received emotional support, began therapy, and experienced—for the first time—what it feels like to sleep without fear. But now, everything is at risk.

How CPS Failed These Children Yet Again
Despite the history of abuse, the prior removals in two states, and the mother’s criminal conviction, child protective agencies failed to communicate essential information to Georgia. Here is what the Georgia court was not told:
  • The mother has a Texas criminal conviction for child abuse
  • She is legally required to have supervised visitation only
  • A social worker must approve any contact with the children
  • CPS in both Texas and Ohio previously removed the children due to safety concerns
Because none of this was shared with Georgia, the mother has been able to file for custody as though she has no history—and the judge is making decisions without knowing the truth about her violent past. The system has failed these girls over and over.

Why I Need Your Help
I am doing everything in my power to keep the girls safe, but the legal fight required to protect them is serious, complex, and expensive.
I am raising funds to hire an experienced attorney who can:
  • Present the full truth to the Georgia judge
  • Obtain and submit certified records from Texas and Ohio
  • Ensure the court is aware of the mother’s conviction and supervised-visit requirements
  • Advocate for the girls’ safety in court
  • Protect these children from being forced back into a dangerous environment
These girls deserve a voice. They deserve safety. And they deserve a fair chance at life. I cannot give them that alone.

What Your Donation Will Support Your contribution will help pay for:
  • Attorney retainer fees
  • Court filings and record retrieval
  • Expert testimony if required
  • Travel expenses for hearings and evidence collection
  • Therapy and trauma support for the girls
  • Emergency needs during the case
  • Every dollar helps us fight back against a broken system.
  • The Girls Are Finally Safe. Please Help Keep It That Way.
  • Since living with me, the girls have:
  • Returned to school and made academic progress
  • Received love, support, and stability
  • Begun healing from trauma
  • Experienced a home free from violence and fear

They are laughing again. Sleeping again. Learning again. Living again.
I am doing everything I can to protect them, but the legal costs are more than I can manage alone. By donating—even a small amount—you can help save three young lives from being returned to abuse and danger. Please donate and share this campaign. Your support will make all the difference.

With gratitude,
Joi Williams
