Hi! This is Johny, a 1 year old Terrier-Dachshund Mix rescue from Texas who's now living his best life in Vancouver, BC with his paw-rents JM and Jan.

From the moment Johny was adopted last August 2024, he's been very playful and energetic. He greets everyone in the dog park, hooman or otherwise, with enthusiasm and playfulness. He just wants to be around with people and dogs alike and wish the day would just not end.

First thing you'd notice when you meet Johny is his front paws. They're adorable and people fondly call them "ballerina" feet. As a first time dog owner (JM) I never thought of anything about it until we noticed him sometimes limping when he stands after a prolonged sit/lying down.

We decided to take him to the vet and he was diagnosed with Carpal Valgus. As it is explained to us, it is when the bones on his feet don't grow at the same rate and as such his foot bends outwards. Left untreated, it will reduce his mobility and will ultimately cause pain and arthritis.

Vet estimates 13K for imaging and surgery itself and they recommend to have this procedure done the soonest. But as with any normal family, this is what hinders us from moving forward. Even with 2 full time jobs, and with our current financial situation with just a couple of years setting our ground in Canada, this is no easy feat. But we do not want to give up just as easily.
