In September, my Dad came home with a severe back pain that he couldn't seem to get rid of, and within days was admitted to the ICU, unable to breathe on his own due to fluid surrounding his lungs. It was found that he was in congestive heart failure and his heart was only working at 10%. After many weeks in the ICU, he was air lifted to San Diego for further evaluation and specialized cardiovascular care. His only chance for survival was to be accepted as a candidate for an LVAD or heart transplant.
On November 28th he underwent surgery to receive the LVAD (left ventricular assist device). The road to recovery is long and will require my stepmom to relocate to San Diego for 3 months as he receives physical therapy, follow up care and education on living with the LVAD. The expenses of traveling back and forth from their home in Las Vegas, finding temporary housing and hiring house sitters to watch over their 2 dogs and 3 cats is a huge financial burden. Please consider donating to help them through this and allow them to focus on getting my Dad back home. From the bottom of our hearts, we are so appreciative of the help and support from friends, family, and neighbors.
