The mudslide in Sierra Leone was a disastrous event that occurred on August 14, 2017 after three days of rainfall. A hillside collapsed on the outskirts of Freetown, causing a mudslide that damaged or destroyed hundreds of buildings and killing 1,141 people. More than 3,000 people were left homeless and many families were wiped out.

Many children lost their parents, guardians, and foster parents at the Mortormeh community. Those who were fortunate to survive moved to the Masimbo Community which was 3 miles away. The Masimbo Community did not have a school, so Brother Johnny Bombeh Matobo Kamara founded one.

Most of the students suffer a great food shortage at home. Teachers and proprietor are faced with requests from them daily.

In 2024, the school was able to provide food assistance to the children thanks to the generosity of many Christian women and churches.

We are raising funds for the Johnnylia Nursery

and Preparatory School and also the Junior

Secondary School located in the Masimbo

Community of Regent Village, Freetown, Sier-

ra Leone, West Africa.

At this time, the brick oven and shelter will

cost $11000.00, therefore we hope to raise

$15,000.00 in order to buy starting supplies

needed & equipment. Donors will be provided

progress reports with pictures.

The bread baking oven and shelter will be of great significance for the school. It will be both wood and coal fueled, and it would allow us to bake bread that can be sold to many vendors and families. The sale of the bread will support feeding the students, and helping to pay the teachers as well as getting supplies.
