Please help Johnny Werner's family lay him to rest

Donation protected

On February 12, 2021, sometime between 11 pm and early Saturday morning, Johnny went missing from his home in St. Leon, IN. He left without a coat on his back right before a big snow storm hit...

Johnny was a homebody who barely left home for anything. He kept to himself and didn't even own a cell phone. The mental illness he suffered from made him very uncomfortable with crowds and even with his close family and friends at times. Even though he struggled with acceptance and feeling not good enough for anything, he was still such a kind soul and spending time with his niece and nephews was his happiness.

When Johnny went missing so many questions were unanswered and so many hearts were hurting. His disappearance was a total mystery to everyone in Johnny's small circle.

With all the help from Johnny's friends and family, first responders, the community, and Equusearch Midwest, massive searches were conducted on two separate occasions. The level of support the family received was amazing. People from all over were offering their help and the family was trying so hard to not lose hope after months and months of no answers.

However, on July 27, 2021, the families worst nightmare became a reality. Johnny's sister, Jackie, received a message from a Missing Person's Advocate that a skull had been found by a construction worker nearby her home. Dental records confirmed it was in fact Johnny's. Police then searched the area and found the rest of Johnny's remains in a nearby tree. After further investigation, it was determined that Johnny had indeed taken his own life.

Johnny's story has reached the hearts of many so please find it in your hearts to help this family lay Johnny to rest and give him a proper memorial. And, if you or anyone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline available 24 hours a day. 1-800-273-8255

On behalf of the Werner family, they would like to say, "Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the outpouring of love and support throughout this nightmare. And, please, please if you are struggling mentally just ask for help.”
