Sad news: Johnny passed yesterday evening. We are taking comfort that he is at peace. We so appreciate your support and will be using funds from this account to help with the services for Johnny. Thank ya'll so much.
My son, Johnny Patton, was in a car accident on April 22, 2025. At first, it didn’t seem serious—he didn’t appear to be injured but decided to stay home and rest for a couple of days. At the end of the second day, his wife Laura noticed something was very wrong. Johnny’s color didn’t look right, and she rushed him to the ER at Methodist Hospital.
That night turned our world upside down.
After a series of tests, we were devastated to learn that Johnny was in acute liver failure. There had been no signs. No illness. No warnings. Just… suddenly, everything changed.
Thanks to a miracle, Johnny received a liver transplant on May 3. But that liver began to fail just a few weeks later. On June 15, he underwent a second liver transplant. Since then, it has been a roller coaster of issues—serious infections, unstable oxygen levels, blood pressure swings, heartrate problems, and countless complications. Johnny was intubated for three long months, is still on the vent, but now has a trach. Unfortunately, his kidneys have not began to function again yet so he has daily dialysis.
Johnny has now been in the ICU for over five months. More than once, we’ve stood at his bedside fearing we were out of time. But Johnny is a fighter. His strength—and his deep desire to return home to Laura and their kids—keeps him going.
This journey has not only been emotionally overwhelming, but financially as well. Johnny has not had income since June 1. Laura is doing all she can—working, caring for their children, and being by Johnny’s side at the hospital. But as you can imagine, the bills keep coming: regular monthly expenses along with too many unexpected ones, mounting medical costs, daily hospital parking, gas, meals on the go, and preparations for the extensive rehabilitation Johnny will need once he can finally come home.
We didn’t start this GoFundMe earlier because we truly believed he would be out of the ICU way before now. Laura wanted to carry the weight on her own as long as she could. And she has done an incredible job—but we’ve reached a point where we must ask for help as we have no idea how much longer he will be in the ICU. And once he is out, he will need extensive long term care to build his strength and to be able to work again.
If you are able, we humbly ask you to consider donating to support Johnny and his family through this incredibly difficult time. Your support helps ease the burden so they can focus on what matters most: healing, hope, and the day Johnny finally walks back through his front door.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion, support, and prayers.
Terri Patton
