My name is Alyssa and I'm making this fundraiser to help Mackenzie provide for her independent foster bully, Johnny. As an independent foster, Mackenzie is responsible for all of his food (he's 106 lbs), vet bills, training and so much more. She is an avid bully foster for many rescues. She has saved and re-homed more bullies than I can count. When fostering through a rescue, they provide these supplies. She's doing it on her own, because every rescue is at capacity. Johnny has been failed for 3 years now & he finally needed out of his previous situation.
Please read Johnny's story below, written by Mackenize for more information:
Johnny was part of a large XL Bully breeder confiscation back in 2022, along with my two (Fudge & Mocha), @sequoiathebully, and @alder_iswmp (he is Alder’s littermate). I honed all my stalker FBI skills to track down as many of these family members as possible, and when I met Johnny almost 2 years ago, it was immediately obvious that he got a raw deal. I had worked ever since to help him, and finally the family surrendered him to me almost 3 months ago now.
Johnny spent 3 years being misunderstood, resented, unfulfilled, and blamed for problems he didn’t create. Their younger daughter tormented him (in their own words), was bothered while sleeping, he didn’t go on walks, he didn’t meet people, go new places or have any dog friends. He spent 2 years with torn CCLs (knees) because “he didn’t limp ALL the time” so they didn’t believe it was an issue. He was sent to multiple trainers, yet the humans made no effort to change themselves. As a result, Johnny did bite them on multiple occasions. Getting details was like pulling teeth, but I was finally able to get enough context for each incident to understand that these were not malicious bites- these were bites that occurred because he was in pain, frustrated, and all other forms of communication were ignored (all bites occurred on hands/arms).
Johnny is a good boy. He loves his toys. He’s food motivated. Crate/pen trained. Has good house manners. No separation anxiety, and can entertain himself. He’s a couch potato as long as he gets fulfillment (walks, tug, fetch) twice a day. Johnny turns 4yo 11/24, he’s 106lbs, and just wants to be loved and understood.
We are working with the incredible @thedoglistener to help Johnny with his impulse control and frustration, which he occasionally struggles with (but he has 3 years worth of negativity to heal from, so we can’t blame him).
Johnny has very well with his bully family members, and has been doing great with my bully fosters. He could live with another bully, with slow introductions, but it would be best if the other dog was balanced and neutral, to be able to handle his quirks. He is socially awkward and a bit intrusive at times.
Please message or DM in IG for more info ( @mackspack_dp). We are searching for a new home for Johnny independently, as his original rescue, LoveLeo, is so full & busy (just like EVERY rescue these days)
Johnny would be happiest is a quieter home, probably no kids under 15 because of his past experience. And we will be requiring his future family to do 2 sessions with his trainer, to set them up for success
