My father-in-law, Johnny Padilla is a self-employed mobile auto mechanic who works for people in our local community. No one works harder than this guy! He’s a father to four kids, and I was lucky enough to marry one of them. He’s a great father in law who went so far as to vouch for me with a manager at my current job to help me land it and move my wife and me back to California. He has a reputation for doing good work for fair prices, and cutting deals for folks who are having trouble making ends meet to keep their cars running. However, being self-employed means that he hasn’t had health or dental insurance for over a decade.

Aside from being a hard worker, he also NEVER complains and even in his own personal times of hardship, he can be regularly found putting others and their needs first. Unfortunately, his need is too great to ignore now as it’s endangering his health. He’s been suffering silently from severe pain in his teeth for months. Johnny finally has some measure of insurance, but it’s not enough to cover the work he needs done. According to his dentist, he’ll need some pretty extensive reconstructive work, including bone grafts and implants. This isn’t cheap, even with insurance. Our family is trying to scrape together enough to cover it since he needs the work done as soon as possible, and we’ll need to pay for the work as it’s done. It can be broken up over multiple visits, so as funds come in we’ll be scheduling him dentist visits and posting updates.
