Not long ago, our family’s biggest worries were the same as everyone else’s — paying the bills on time, planning for the future. Then cancer entered our lives and changed everything.

My son was diagnosed with cancer and is now undergoing chemotherapy and will be having surgery after treatment. The treatments are intense and exhausting, leaving him physically unable to work. What was once a dependable routine has been replaced with hospital visits, side effects, and the daily fight to keep going.

Despite the strength and courage Johnny shows, the reality is that cancer doesn’t pause monthly expenses. Rent, utilities, groceries, insurance, and basic household costs continue, even when income does not. With a family to support and no ability to work during treatment, the financial strain has become overwhelming.

This is not a story about giving up — it’s about surviving. Every day, Johnny focuses on healing, on being present for his family, and on holding onto hope. But the stress of wondering how the next bill will be paid adds a heavy weight to an already difficult journey.
