On 06/21/2025, Johnny was rushed to the Emergency room from work due to heart issues. He was admitted the same day to the cardiac unit to have an ECHO and chemically induced stress test conducted. The Echo and stress test were done on 06/23/2025. The results from the ECHO were good but his stress test showed signs of blockages. The doctors went in on 06/25/2025 to do a heart Cath to possibly break up the blockages or put stents in. They were not able to do either. They put Johnny in for immediate transfer to Louisville Jewish Hospital for open heart surgery or CABG. Johnny went in for his open-heart surgery on 06/30/2025. As of right now he is still in ICU. He is on a ventilator but is awake and alert. We are no closer to having the ventilator removed than we were yesterday. He has been in ICU since the surgery on 06/30/2025. He came off the ventilator 5 hours after surgery but due to unforeseen complications he was re-intubated on 07/02/2025.
Johnny will run out of sick and vacation time on 07/05/2025, which means he will also be out of a paycheck to pay his rent and other essential bills. In order for us to keep his health insurance we will have to pay out of pocket since he will no longer have a paycheck for it to be taken out of.
His rent will be paid on 07/03/2025 for the month of July but he may need help for August and September. They have not given an estimated time for return to work. Once he is in the step-down unit, they will give a better estimation of when he can return to work. It should be between 6 and 12 weeks.
Other bills that may fall behind due to this surgery and leave of absence are likely to be the following:
Electric (Kentucky Utilities)
Gas (Atoms Energy)
Cable/internet (Spectrum)
Cell phone (Cricket)
He will not be able to drive for 8 to 12 weeks after he is released.
