Help the Johns finish this album of Original Vintage Blues

Black Crow is the title track of an exciting new 13 track album that includes 12 original vintage blues songs performed by two of Philadelphia's beloved veteran blues artists.

The songs on this album are performed by "Brother John" the duo of Johnny Never and John Colgan-Davis. Johnny Never has been performing Delta and Piedmont style blues for over two decades and John Colgan-Davis has been performing since the 1970s. He performed with Bonnie Raitt, recording with her at WMMR, in Philadelphia, and toured with Sparky Rutger and the John Cadillac Band.

With the release of this, our first album after performing together for almost seven years, Johnny and John are adopting the moniker of “Brother John”. The duo is the root of the act which may include other musicians such as are represented on many of the tracks on this album. The name reflects the strong bond of our musical partnership, as well as the humanity and enduring power of collaborative musical creativity that has always defined the blues.

The Black Crow album is an ambitious blend of creative song writing performances by guest artists such at Chicago Carl Snyder, Mark Shewchuck, and Jimmy Pritchard. Producing it is expensive. We managed to scrape together roughly half the 12K budget, but we need community help to pay for the finishing, replication, distribution, and promotion.

The tracks are complete, but as frustrating as it is, we can not fully release it and distribute it without help! It is tragic to do all this work and run out of funding... but we feel confident that our friends and fans will come together and help us out! If you aren't a fan or friend yet, we hope you will become one!

Why this music? Over 100,000 new songs are added to streaming sites each and every day, many are mass-produced by monetizing algorithms. The art, craftsmanship and message of the music is gone. But this album took three years or hard work, love and dedication. The songs are creative, pulling inspiration from Gospel and the original blues recordings from the 1920s. It is real music, made by real humans, for real humans. Please help us pay for the balance of what we need to get this done! The video explains a little about what the expenses are.... Our fundraising goal is shy of what we need. We've deliberately made our goal less than we need so at least we'll get something. And hopefully we will exceed the goal, and get what we need.
