UPDATE:

Thank you to your generosity and funds we are VERY close to reaching our goal. We are only $1,100 away from collecting the funds needed to bury Sheila this Tuesday. Johnnie and I can't thank you enough for helping to provide a resting place (Bethel Cemetery) where Johnnie can visit Sheila. He has asked me to thank you for your support as he grieves his life partner of 31 years. Sheila's positive light shines on in Johnnie and chosen family. Thank you for being a part of that family. Dear Friends -- my beloved friend Sheila W. recently passed away and I am working with her loved ones, specifically Johnnie F., to lay her to rest with the dignity that Sheila deserves.

We are working with a very reasonable (and kind) funeral home and cemetery. The total cost will be $9,300, and we have $6,000 already. I have launched this campaign to raise the remaining funds.

I met Sheila around 2008, and she was managing some significant medical issues. She told me that God only puts as much on your plate as you can handle, so she concluded that God believed she had a very big plate. Sheila was small in stature but large in life with a booming voice that championed the life and dignity of those around her. She called out injustice when she saw it and took action. When Sheila was barely hanging on herself, she took in a woman (and her cat) who had nowhere to go. Sheila got that woman connected to medical care and social services (and the cat to a vet). Sheila was fearless.

Johnnie and Sheila were dedicated to one another for more than 30 years, and he wants to fulfill her wishes for this next part of her journey. All gifts are welcome and appreciated. May Sheila's fierce spirit rest in power.
