Help Johnathan Complete His Bucket List

Johnathan Lansdowne is a 25-year-old young man who was diagnosed with metastatic germ cell cancer at age 22. This cancer is very aggressive and has spread to his brain, lungs, lymph nodes, around his heart, attached to major blood vessels, and multiple other organs throughout his body. To be frank, the chances of Johnathan’s cancer being cured are very slim. Johnathan’s goal is to live as long as possible, with the highest quality of life he can achieve. Unfortunately, it is likely he will live a very short life. Johnathan has been enduring very intensive chemo/ immunotherapies and very complex surgeries. He went septic the day before Christmas eve after experiencing a systemic infection from the work done during his most recent surgery. Johnathan is currently intubated to assist with his breathing due to the serious infection and acquired pneumonia, he also had a feeding tube placed to administer the nutrition he needs to stay alive. He spent Christmas in critical condition at the UC Davis ICU, he also spent his most recent birthday on 12/05/21 in the ICU recovering from surgery. Johnathan is seeking help from anyone kind enough to provide it, he has no income and lives with his grandmother who is low-income. He is seeking funds to help pay his bills and provide comforts to aid him in this battle against his disease. These funds would also be used to help him check items off his “bucket list”, he would like to travel the United States and beyond! His goal is to pack as many experiences as he can into the short amount of time he has with us. Johnathan would also like the opportunity to give back to the world with the time and energy he has to spare.

Despite the challenges and unfortunate circumstances presented to him since the young age of 4 years old, Johnathan has always been kind, respectful, grateful, and understanding. The doctors, nurses, social workers, clinicians, friends, and family members around him all praise his very friendly, strong, and enduring nature. It is incredibly difficult to understand how someone so young, someone that has endured so much physical, emotional, and spiritual pain can continue to have such a positive outlook on life. Johnathan is truly an inspiration to everyone he encounters. Please, if you are fortunate enough to be able to donate, we ask that you spare what you can to help such a kind young soul.

Despite how serious his cancer is, Johnathan has been fighting as hard as possible. He has undergone some of the most intensive chemo and immunotherapies requiring him to be admitted to UC Davis for weeks at time. These treatments severely compromise his immune system and come with very uncomfortable side-effects. Alongside these treatments he has undergone several of the most intensive, complex, and invasive surgeries to physically remove some of these tumors around the vital parts of his body. These surgeries are very painful, they take several days if not weeks to recover from. These inpatient treatments and surgeries have been even more difficult since these take place in Sacramento – approximately two and a half hours from where he lives. This, alongside the COVID restrictions, make it difficult for any family members or friends to be present during the hardest times in his life. He is typically forced to endure these treatments and recover from these surgeries alone, far from the support he needs. The pain, anxiety, fear, and depression have made it very difficult for him to withstand these trials but he remains hopeful.

Johnathan was diagnosed with this disease at a very young age and had been struggling with personal issues before his diagnoses. Without going into too much detail, he had a very hard upbringing. Unfortunately Johnathan has had friends, significant others, and family members abandon him throughout these trials.

If you took the time to hear Johnathan’s story, we are very grateful. If you can donate, if you can spread the word – you would be changing this young man’s world forever! If you can’t donate, even if you don’t share, we appreciate you taking the time to acknowledge it.
