Help John with amputee expenses and transition

I have been diabetic for 25 years, but this came as a complete surprise and happened so incredibly fast. I had cut my foot (the sole) but it was such a minor cut I cleaned it myself and bandaged it up. Within a few weeks, I became very ill (no appetite, high fever, loss of senses), and went to a Gatineau hospital. There, they did a COVID-19 test (was negative), but just put wraps around my foot and focused on antibiotics, insulin and didn't look at foot. I felt I was dying, so manually discharged myself from that hospital and went to Ottawa Civic. There, they placed all their attention on my foot, which went from a salvageable stage to a foot with so much infection and gangrene e that it needed to be amputated or I was probably going to lose my life. The Doctor in Ottawa said I made a great move as no amount of antibiotics would have saved me and I would have probably died. So I had to make the painful decision to lose my foot and leg after so many Doctors and foot surgeons in Ottawa were by my side giving me the best advice. Since the amputation, I feel so much better and can eat, lost my high 103 degree fever and can move forward.
I'm hoping to get some support in any way possible for my new life as an amputee. I feel pretty scared to be honest as everything I used to take for granted (even showering) will be a new challenge. Any contribution would help.
