Help John with accessibility expenses
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Josh (John's son) and I created this GoFundMe for my dad John Bell, To help cover the many out of pocket expenses his insurance does not cover. A lot of people have been asking for a way to help and this will be a huge help for John.
John took a fall off his deck at home the night of August 15th which parylzed him from the neck down. He layed on the ground for 4 hours until he was found at 3am by his wife Shelly, which was a miracle that she woke up and was able to find him. I'm only putting these details out there because it shows how strong my dad is, his will to survive and get through the agony because he loves life and loves all of the people in his life. He's tough.
He broke his back, his c3 and c4 vertebrae were fractured during the fall and his spinal cord was badly damaged. He also suffered broken ribs and a callapsed lung.
His injuries have Johns mobility down to either laying in bed or in a wheelchair. He can't move his arms so even a basic task like feeding himself, he can't do. This is why we're asking for help. Besides just hospital bills, John needs to get his house redone to create an accessible environment where he can do daily tasks as easy as possible. Examples of what he needs are: Complete handicap accessible bathroom, All door's in home need to be widened for wheelchair access. He will also need Handicap accessible vehicle with ramp to transport him.
He is currently at Mary Free Bed in rehab and he is working very hard! He's not going to give up! As you can imagine he has made many friends in there and all the nurses just love him! He still has his charm and witt and because of that he's become sort of a celebrity at MFB. They can see his determination and his positive attitude is very contagious.
Please give what you can, 100% goes directly to him and his absolute needs.
John looks forward to seeing everyone at the 7-Mile or down at the river again when the dust settles.
Thank you
