Help Support John’s Upcoming Treatment
Our dear friend, husband, and father, John Valenciano, is beginning another difficult step in his healing journey. After five years of recovering from a brain stem tumor and a stroke, John is now facing a new challenge. Doctors recently found that a small portion of his tumor has changed and must be treated with radiation soon to prevent further growth.
To receive this care, John must travel from Green River, WY to Salt Lake City every week for six weeks, staying Monday through Friday. Because of the lasting effects of his tumor and stroke, he cannot travel or stay alone—he needs a caregiver with him at all times.
This would be difficult for any family.
For John and Kendall—after years of medical struggles and financial strain—it has become impossible to manage without help. While his medical treatment is covered, the travel, lodging, meals, and unexpected costs are not. After five years of challenges, these expenses are simply more than their family can bear alone.
Your kindness will help cover
- Lodging during treatment
- Meals away from home
- Gas and travel expenses
- Unexpected medical or living costs
John hasn’t been able to return to work, and Kendall has been caring for him while raising their two children, Sophia and Mathias. This next phase of treatment is essential, but the financial burden is overwhelming. Any amount helps lighten the load and ensures John can complete his treatment safely.
Your support will help John receive the care he urgently needs and relieve a weight this family has carried for years.
John’s Story
In January 2020, John was diagnosed with a rare tumor called a Pilocytic Astrocytoma on his brain stem—an area responsible for vital functions like breathing and swallowing. During this time, he also suffered a stroke that left the entire left side of his body weak and numb.
In February 2020, he underwent a delicate surgery where doctors were able to remove most of the tumor. John then spent six months in inpatient rehabilitation, relearning how to walk, talk, eat, and perform everyday tasks. His determination was extraordinary.
When he finally returned home, the work continued. For the past five years, he has pushed through therapy, slowly rebuilding strength and fine motor skills. He has made incredible progress—now able to walk with assistance and continuing outpatient therapy regularly—but he still needs daily support and cannot work.
Through every challenge, Kendall has been by his side as his caregiver, partner, and steady source of strength for their family.
Any amount truly makes a difference:
- It helps cover travel, lodging, meals, and other expenses
- It ensures John can safely complete all six weeks of radiation
- It brings stability and support during an incredibly difficult time
