John is going through something we never imagined, and we’re asking for help so that he can stay close to his wife Julie while she fights for her life far from home.

While on what was meant to be a simple, happy holiday in Lanzarote celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary, Julie suddenly became seriously unwell. Doctors discovered she had a blood clot on the brain and a had suffered a severe stroke. She was urgently transferred to Hospital Insular in Gran Canaria, where she is now in a coma receiving critical care and fighting for her life.

John travelled to Gran Canaria as quickly as he could, but he is completely overwhelmed. He’s in a foreign country, terrified for Julie, trying to navigate hospital systems, language barriers, and daily logistics — all while watching the person he loves most fight for her life.

Julie has always been the one who organised everything for them. Without her, John is lost.

Although Julie is insured, we’ve now been told that the insurance may not cover John’s accommodation while she remains in hospital. He could be there for weeks or even months, and the cost of staying in Gran Canaria long‑term is something he simply cannot manage alone.

We want John to be able to focus on being there for Julie, not worrying about where he’s going to sleep next week.

What We’re Raising Funds For

• Accommodation for John — somewhere safe, quiet, and stable near Hospital Insular.

• Basic living costs — food, transport, and essentials while he remains abroad.

• Translation or support services — to help John communicate clearly with doctors.
