Help John Spencer's Family Avoid Eviction

My name is John Spencer and my family and I live at Orchard Apartments in Muncie, which is owned by BK Management. We have lived here for over 10 years, but we were forced to leave our home when water leaked through our ceiling due to leaks that were never properly fixed. In addition, our water heater leaked and caused water to pool up from the floor which, when combined with the leaky ceiling, caused us to lose many of our belongings due to mold.

I reported the leaks to the office and while they sent a maintenance man to assess the damage, they told us we would have to move to another apartment because of the severity of the leaks. My family and I stayed in a moldy and waterlogged apartment for a week while BK prepared a townhouse for us to move to because we had nowhere else to go. Once we moved in, we had to replace the clothes and furniture we lost and as a result, ended up getting behind on rent. Despite me making an agreement with the office manager to split rent in half by making two monthly payments, BK decided to take us to small claims court to the tune of $649.

We have since then come up with the money to pay the $649, plus some of the fees but we need $1800 to pay off the remaining court costs and additional fees BK decided to tack on. If we do not pay off the $1800 we owe, my family and I will be removed from our new home. I am more than embarrassed to ask for help, but this year has been a very difficult one for us. If you can spare anything, we would appreciate it and once we get back on our feet, I will personally repay any and all contributions.
