John has had a recurrence of cancer in the past few months. The cancer has taken the form of Leptomeningeal disease, a rare type of cancer that attacks the central nervous system He is only the 10th patient in a cutting edge trial for patients with this form of cancer. The only catch is that the trial is in in Houston, Texas. Every other week, John and his wife, Alyssa must fly to Houston where he is hospitalized for 3 days while he undergoes an experimental form of immunotherapy called intrathecal therapy. This form of treatment involves injecting immunotherapy directly into the cerebral spinal fluid through a port in his skull.
Thankfully most of John's medical treatment is covered by insurance. However, flights to and from Houston and lodging for he and Alyssa has had to come out of pocket. At the suggestion of friends and family who love and care about him, John has agreed (somewhat reluctantly) to give people the chance to help with the costs of getting the treatment he needs to beat this thing.
