John Showman is many things to many people — a gifted professional fiddle player, a devoted dad, a loving husband, a loyal friend, and a cherished brother and son. If you’ve ever heard John play, you know his music brings people together in the most joyful way. Now, he needs our help.
Recently, John experienced a serious accident while sleepwalking that resulted in a devastating fall. He suffered fractures to two vertebrae — a painful and life-altering injury that has abruptly put his life and livelihood on hold.
As a musician, John’s ability to move freely isn’t just important — it’s everything. This injury means he is unable to perform, teach, or work, cutting off his primary source of income. On top of that, his road to recovery will require extensive physiotherapy, ongoing treatment, and time — all of which come with significant costs.
John is facing this challenge with the same strength and spirit he brings to his music, but he can’t do it alone.
We are raising $22,900 to help cover:
Lost income during the recovery period ($16,000)
6 months/40 sessions of physiotherapy, massage and rehabilitation treatments ($3000)
Vision therapy and medicine costs ($2800)
Strength and mobility training and equipment (2 months yoga course, inversion table and weights - $1,100)
Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping John heal and regain his strength so he can return to the life — and music — he loves.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign would mean just as much.
Let’s come together for John the way he’s brought people together for years through his music.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and generosity. ❤️
