Help John Schaefer fight cancer!

Hello! My name is Kari. Mary Nelson and I are raising money for John Schaefer, his wife, Brittney, and their four young girls: Braxtyn 10, Kinley 8, Haidyn 6 and Lauryl 4.

John has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Classical Hodgkins Lymphoma. The cancer has spread throughout most of his body including his bone marrow. This all started a couple of months ago after John felt a lump in his abdomen that turned out to be one of many tumors. He has since had weekly tests and appointments to determine the extent of his diagnosis. I have watched this strong family accept the weight of each piece of information with grace and strength, not letting it crush them. Several other families in our community have witnessed this and asked what they can do to help. Raising this money is what we can do!!

John starts aggressive chemotherapy on Monday, January 9th and will continue this treatment for a minimum of 4 months. During this time he will not be able to work at the Stillwater mine. Brittney is a stay at home mom that works mornings at a local preschool (but this will be frequently interrupted with the treatment schedule). While John’s job does provide some income through temporary disability, it will not include overtime (which John worked frequently!) or production money. Two things that this family relies heavily on. 

Your donation will help pay for additional medical costs and expenses that insurance doesn’t cover. Those costs are unknown at this time and can be substantial. It will help with transportation to and from Bozeman, childcare and food.

We would like to be able to take any extra burden off of these wonderful people so all their energy can be used towards supporting this devoted husband and father fight for his life.
