HELP JOHN, "MIRACLE SURVIVALIST" KICK COVID COVID FOR GOOD!

Hi, I’m John Scaglione. It’s difficult for me to ask for help so a good friend wrote this plea for me.

Meet my remarkable friend John Scaglione. Sadly, this past July he was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital with Covid-19. His first 29 days were spent in an induced paralytic coma dependent on a
ventilator just to stay alive.

During this time, he was given a tracheotomy and feeding tube as his best chance of survival. He remained on mechanical ventilation 45 days in the struggle of his life. We didn't know if he would ever
fully regain consciousness, get his voice back, breathe normally, or enjoy food again.

In all, he stayed a total of 125 consecutive days! That's over four months in hospitals and acute rehabs.

Over the course of this ordeal, John lost 61 lbs. His muscles were  so atrophied from immobility, he had to relearn to walk and              balance. Moreover, due to an extremely large sacral wound, John underwent Flap Reconstruction Surgery to repair the horrific bedsore and was unable to even sit up for six weeks. This complicated the rehab process. It took great inner strength and courage to persevere.

He was further diagnosed with Critical Illness Neuropathy as a       result of the damage that Covid-19 left in it’s wake. This caused a "drop foot” affecting his left foot. That means he needs a medical  device to walk safely, And if that's not enough - his right arm has
limited mobility of about 1/5 range of motion. Both bring
challenges to his activities of daily living and need ongoing
therapy, but John continues to fight to regain his strength.

John cheated death three different times. The doctors nicknamed him “THE MIRACLE SURVIVALIST.” He kicked Covid-19 to the
curb, beat all odds and lives to tell his story.

His secret weapons have been God and his wife, Christi. She has
been an amazing advocate through this whole ordeal. Among
other things, she established video chats with his doctors and
nurses and fought to get John Convalescent Blood Plasma for the needed antibodies to stop the menacing attack of the Coronavirus on every organ of his body. No organ was safe and long-term
effects are still to be determined.

Christi also drove two hours one way just to get a glimpse of John through a window and hold up handmade signs to communicate
since they didn’t allow visitors. She continued to encourage him
even when doctors said he might only be in a vegetative state for
the rest of his life.

Through the grace of God, they have come through it. But now
they have another battle. A financial one - paying for the all of the
treatments and moving on with their lives.

As you can imagine, with John not working for more than 6 months and not having the best health insurance, he's responsible for
20% even after his high deductible was met. In short - John and
Christi are great people- but they are in a deep financial hole
which is why we initiated this GoFundMe campaign.

All of the money raised will help with medical expenses, living expenses, ongoing physical therapies  and whatever else may pop up
during this difficult time. Yes, they are aware that many people are currently going through financial issues and completely
understand if you cannot donate. However, keeping them in your
prayers would be very much appreciated.
