Help John Recover From Spinal Surgery and Stay On His Feet
Donation protected
Hi, my name is John, and I never thought I’d find myself in this position—writing something like this and asking for help. It’s a humbling experience, and to be honest, I’m doing this with a heavy heart and a bit of reluctance. But right now, I don’t have any other options.
In the coming weeks, I’ll be undergoing spinal surgery—an urgent and necessary procedure to prevent permanent nerve damage. Without it, I could lose the use of my left arm, and there’s even a risk of partial paralysis. It’s a terrifying possibility, but I’m trying to face it head-on with hope and determination.
I’ve spent my career working with developmentally disabled individuals in the community—people who rely on patience, consistency, and care. It’s meaningful work that I love, and I take pride in being someone others can count on. But now, as I prepare for this major surgery and months of recovery, I find myself in a situation where I’m the one in need of support.
Unfortunately, my employer doesn’t offer short-term disability. This means I’ll be without income for several months while I heal. I’ve looked into every possible resource, but I’ve come up short. I’m not looking for anything extravagant—just enough to cover the basics: rent, food, utilities, transportation, and medical follow-ups. I’m hoping to raise around $4,000 to get through this stretch. This will be used to cover bills, food and medical needs.
Every little bit truly helps. Whether it’s $5 or $50, your support will help me keep my head above water while I focus on healing and getting back to the work and life I care about. Even just sharing this campaign with others means more than I can say.
For those who know me, you know I’m a big Miami Dolphins fan. That team has taught me a thing or two about patience, resilience, and holding onto hope even when the odds aren’t in your favor. That’s where I’m at right now—hopeful, but in need of a team to help me push through.
Thank you for reading this. Thank you for caring. And thank you—deeply—for any support you can offer.
With gratitude,
John
PS. Yes, I am aware the photos are dated. I wanted to show my fandom. Those of you who know me know that I've never been much for photos.
