Help John Powell Beat Leukemia!

John is a son, brother, mechanic, photographer, world traveler, lover of motorcycles, and driver of cool vans. He's creative, funny, sweet, and is the kind of person that makes everyone he meets feel comfortable and heard.

In July of 2022, our healthy, vibrant John started feeling severe chest pain out of the blue. He went in for tests after two weeks of pain and was diagnosed with T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL) - an aggressive type of blood cancer that developed a large mass in his chest and is affecting his lymphatic system.

He was rushed into care with a specialist in Portland, Oregon, and started treatment in early August. The first phase includes a 30 day stay in a hospital where he received aggressive chemotherapy and then 6 months of outpatient chemo. The doctors have given early indication that treatment for this type of cancer could be lengthy and that he may need bone marrow treatments as well as others down the road.

This means John will not be able to work for a long period of time and that he, his family, and community will have a lot of expenses, including:

A little about John:

John is a 31 year old hailing from Orlando, Florida. At age 19, he joined the Air Force and worked as a TACP - he was stationed in various places throughout the the world including Seoul, South Korea. In 2016 he went to New Zealand to work as an adventure guide, leading climbing, navigation, and backpacking trips in Queenstown. Since then, he's been living in Bend, Oregon and has worked as a motorcycle mechanic, general contractor, and dog dad :). He enjoys vintage motorcycles, camping in his JDM van, being in the water, paragliding, photography, and spending time with his puppy, Toka. Basically, he's the coolest guy ever.
