John and I were raised with the same values; work hard, provide for our family and not expect a handout. What follows is difficult, John Paul has brain cancer. We are asking for your help to face the huge financial burden created by his diagnosis.
On the morning of June 18th, John Paul felt out of balance, like his body was falling. He sat on a chair and tried to tell me what happened. I couldn’t understand him because he was slurring his words. I, immediately, took him to the nearest hospital where he had an MRI. They found a brain mass growing near the brain stem and because of the location, it is inoperable.
We found the best neurosurgeon, at Cleveland Clinic, who scheduled a biopsy right away to see what kind of tumor we were dealing with. The results were devastating; John Paul, who has always been healthy and strong, my husband, my best friend has a Grade 4 Glioblastoma; a rapidly growing, malignant tumor that requires urgent, aggressive action.
His oncologist put John on daily chemotherapy and radiation. His last radiation treatment was 3 weeks ago. In a week, he’ll start chemotherapy again, one week a month for the next 6 to 12 months. We know, we have a long road ahead, but we are not giving up. I see him get well every day, we remain positive and are grateful for your prayers.
As we enter this unknown path, the last thing John Paul needs is to worry about money. His last paycheck is November 6. He’s not eligible for long-term disability until sometime January or February 2021. Many of you have offered to help us and for that we are moved to tears and immensely grateful. So, upon the suggestion of one of his union brothers, we started this “go fund me” campaign to raise funds and help us during this journey.
I believe in my heart that with God’s loving grace, John Paul will be healed. I always tell him that he is beloved by everyone, he is funny, he’s helpful, a good father, a loving son and brother, and an amazing husband.
