Dear Family and friends,
My cousin John Patterson is currently a second-year medical student. John has climbed many obstacles to get here. He completed his undergraduate degree at UC Davis and obtained his masters in bio medical science. John has taken a huge step and moved to Grenada to attend St. George University school of Medicine. John didn't have an easy road getting here, he lost his mother at just 19 years old to a genetic breast cancer. As a young man that could have taken him down a much different path. However, John didn't let that derail him from his dreams. He has an immense love for serving people, he is dedicated and hard working towards his goal of becoming a surgical oncologist, a field dedicated to treating cancer patients through surgery, driven by the inspiration of his mother. His dedication isn't just in the classroom; he was formerly the president of Global Medical Training, an international organization that provides free medical services to underserved communities. He has an incredible heart, and he truly loves serving his community.
The path to becoming a doctor has been incredibly challenging, and for an international med student like him, it comes with unique and immense financial hurdles. Despite him working tirelessly and securing all the loans and aid available to him, he has hit a critical funding gap. The remaining costs for tuition, housing and living expenses have become overwhelming.
John needs our help; without our support he faces the devastating possibility of having to put his dream on hold. He is so close to reaching his goal, and it would be a tragedy for his journey to end because of financial hardship. John has so much to offer the world as a prospective doctor, his light for life and others shines so bright.
Evey dollar donated will go directly toward his tuition and essential living expenses, allowing him to focus on his studies and continue the path to becoming Dr. Patterson.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read this.
With much Love and gratitude,
Ashley (John’s Cousin)
