Help John P. Allen as he waits for a new heart
Donation protected
Earlier this year John P. Allen was diagnosed with a rare blood disease called cardiac amyloidosis which has, in a short period of time, aggressively attacked his heart and rapidly decreased his quality of life. He is now in hospital waiting for a heart transplant. Because of his declining health he hasn’t been able to work for many months now. It may be a long time yet until he is back on a stage doing what he loves. As any fellow independent musician or artist can attest to this has put him and his family in a challenging financial situation. Thankfully he knows a few very kind and talented people who want to help out. Some Canadian music legends are getting together in a few weeks to help raise some money on his behalf. The Good Brothers, Sylvia Tyson and members of Prairie Oyster to name a few. They will be performing in Rockwood Ontario on Sunday October 20th. For those who are not able to attend the fundraiser in person we have set up this page so you can still contribute remotely.
John P. Allen has been a professional musician for over 40 years. With his fiddle and mandolin in tow he has played with Ian Tyson's Great Speckled Bird, The Dixie Flyers, The Good Brothers, Denny Doherty, John McDermott, Sylvia Tyson, Fred Eaglesmith, Willie P. Bennett, Tommy Hunter and Prairie Oyster. In 2008 he was inducted in to the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame as a member of Prairie Oyster. In May of 2019 he was individually inducted in to the London Ontario Music Hall of Fame.
