Hello, I'm Bryan, and I'm John Lugo's friend. We grew up together in Kirby, Texas, and I like to recall one of our adventures when we went to driving school together. I looked up to John because he was handsome and funny; people all around seemed to like him. He was in football and band and played the trombone. Judson High School grads, which was when we were last together as friends until we reconnected later in life as adults, older men.

The trombone helped define his life. He went on to play in Trulio Disgracias, lived in LA, played the club scene, and even supported Sly and the Family Stone. Like us, he had a family, and he had ups and downs. He came back home to San Antonio and lived a life journey that had bumps and bruises like all of us did. He was even a band teacher at school for a minute before the pandemic shut down the schools and took that option away.

I'm reaching out today because our friend is down...he could really use a hand if we have anything to spare. His car broke down, which is basically his livelihood, as well as the roof over his head. There's a life story behind this, and I don't want to put it all here, but the snapshot in time is that our friend could really use some help today.

The ask: If you have it in you to spare some dollars, so we could try and get his car fixed...also, if you know anyone who has a hook into an agency, or a spare room or roof for John and his little dog, it would mean so much.

Thank you all for the kindness and support you’ve shown John Lugo and his dog Scoot Scoot. Your help has given John immediate shelter, which is a huge step forward.

He’s still looking for long-term housing options for both of them, and the car mechanic is waiting on a delayed part — repairs are expected early next week.

John is also working on new steps to get back on track, and every suggestion, share, or donation continues to make a real difference.

We’re so grateful for everyone helping John and Scoot Scoot move toward stability and hope.
