We all know John.... he is a dedicated, loving, and strong person who holds his cards close to his chest but is a big teddy bear inside. As many of you who worked with him know, John battled back issues late in his career with Herrero. Then when one of his daughters moved to Iowa and the grandchildren started showing up, the family trips changed from the north west (Oregon) to the far west (Iowa). Not long after, John's heart drove him to be closer with the grandchildren, so John retired early and with his wife, son and dogs, moved to Iowa.

Over the past few years since leaving, I have kept in touch with John, texting here and there. For the last year, I haven’t heard much from him until I received a call from his wife, Kim. She told me that John has been fighting throat cancer for the last year and that he has been in tremendous pain.

For the last year, John has been getting treatments from the University of Iowa for his cancer and currently has no voice. His treatments need to continue into next year. Although, John and his family are confident that he will get his voice back early next year, they could really use some additional love and support from his friends here in California.

Because John has retired, he does not have the income he once had, and his treatments are very expensive. Please help John and his family with any donation you can to help with the treatment cost and ease the added stress these costs can create on him and his family at this time.
