My name is John Marek, and I’m a totally and permanently disabled 13-year veteran of the United States Army. I served in Iraq and Afghanistan as Military Police and as an explosive detection K-9 handler. I’ve talked to my family, and I plan to (sort of) complete a lifelong dream and participate in the 131st Boston Marathon on April 17-19, 2027.
However, this is the marathon BEFORE the official marathon race. This is the Boston Marathon Tough Ruck for veterans, military, and first responders. I have to raise charity funds to enter, and my goal is to raise about $10,000 for the charity, plus entry fees, and travel expenses. It’s to honor the fallen and raise money for veterans' causes. It’s a 26.2-mile route from Concord, MA to Boylston St. in Boston. This is for a great cause.
I am currently in training, and if you would like to donate, all funds raised will go towards the required charity fundraising for veterans and first responders, as well as a small amount toward entry fees, and travel expenses. I want to do this and it’s for a great cause, but I also don’t want to place undue burden on my family. The more money raised, the more goes toward the charity funds required for entry. Please help me realize this lifelong dream and for an amazing cause. Please visit https://toughruck.org if you want to learn more about the event and the cause! Thank you.
