Help John Get Medication to Battle Glioblastoma

Hi everyone,

As some of you may know, my father, John, has been battling glioblastoma since last summer. He was previously diagnosed with a grade III tumor in 2009 and was stable for over 13 years, until it recurred and vamped up to a grade IV aka glioblastoma. My father has already exhausted standard of care treatment and is not eligible for any clinical trials. The medication we want to put him on is one of the last promising options he has. The insurance will not approve this medication (denied twice), so we are trying to still obtain this medication without insurance which costs about $5200 per cycle (he would need at least 3). This drug will potentially have the ability to stabilize my dad’s tumor or maybe even slow down the growth that is occurring. Due to the type of IDH mutation his tumor has, this PARP inhibitor drug in combination with Temodar chemotherapy may be able to re-sensitize his tumor to this chemo again. This PARP inhibitor is usually for breast, pancreatic, and ovarian cancer. Early studies have shown to be promising for GBM with this type of mutation, so we want to give it a shot. It’s heart breaking to see my father go through this. He hasn’t been able to work for months, can no longer drive, or do many of things that make him who he is. He would never be one to ask for help, although would be the first to give it. Therefore, I am asking for him.
