Help John Get Back to Seattle
Donation protected
I moved from Seattle to my family ranch in SD, 11/21. This was supposed to be a really awesome thing, living on my family property, in the house where I was a child with my parents. Little did I know what the house or the property had become. Without going into disparaging detail, it suffices to say my uncle has ruined anything that was special, beautiful, or spiritual about this property, and I've been living in a dwelling that, were it in the city or a real rental, would be condemned as uninhabitable. Coming down here has been a nightmare for a list of reasons too long to explicate.
As such, my mental and physical health have suffered incredibly. I'm a shell of the human being I once was. I hardly eat or sleep. I'm unemployed. The good news is, I got sober, but, perhaps too late. Last December I was diagnosed with alcoholic hepatitis. I actually meet with a specialist tomorrow to see exactly how bad things are and what the game plan is going forward.
While it's been nice being around my Mom, Grandma, and the entire side of my maternal family, the paternal side as related to the ranch has made it impossible for me to stay here. I once wondered how people could have conflicts significant enough to make them not speak to their own blood, but I get it now. I want nothing to do with these people. It's damaging to both my physical and mental health.
Sadly, I cannot afford to live in San Diego on my own. But, I have family, friends, and loved ones in Seattle and I have decided to return there.
That said, I cannot afford the move. As it is, my mother has been helping me with my bills, etc. I never imagined I would be in the financial position I am in at almost 38. Frankly, it's embarrassing.
I am trying to raise funds for:
Securing a UHaul/POD/etc. to move my things from SD to Seattle (the minimum estimate on this alone is $1800);
Gas for the drive;
1 to 2 motels along the way (it's a two to three day drive, reasonably, and I always stay at the same cheap Motel 6's, which are pet friendly for Proulx);
Seattle City Permit to park the Pod or moving truck in Seattle;
Incidentals.
Many of you are aware of the stuff I've been going through and have been supportive, caring, and generous. It is with the utmost humility and nearly shame that I ask for this help. I know the world is a mess at the moment, and everyone is going through things. I have friends who have needed help and still need it, recently, who I have been unable to help because I have no money. But I wish I could. I understand. Anyway, if you can, it would be appreciated more than you know, and if I end up staying alive, I will return the favor when I am back on my feet. If not, that's fine too. I love you no less.
Be well.
