Help John Come Home

John is a wonderful and dedicated friend, the kind of person who shows up for the people in his life, always willing to give his time, friendship and support. Together, John and Krystal are an incredibly kind, caring and giving couple.

John has lived with spinal stenosis and serious spinal complications for several years. Seven years ago, he underwent major spinal surgery that required hardware to be placed in his lower back.

Earlier this year, that hardware dislodged. In May, John had to undergo a second major spinal surgery involving his upper back and neck. This surgery was significantly more complex, serious and high-risk, and the recovery has been incredibly difficult.

John has now been in hospital for more than three months, with months of rehabilitation and recovery still ahead. It is our time to show up for John.

Through it all, John continues to face each day with remarkable strength, determination, and perseverance. Beside him every step of the way is Krystal, his wife, his advocate, and his rock. She spends countless hours at the hospital, manages their home, helping coordinate John’s care, and trying to prepare for a future that still holds so many unknowns.

As a little person, John has faced accessibility challenges before this life altering surgery. Right now, no one knows what his long-term mobility or independence will look like. His immediate needs are a specialized scooter, wheelchair, and their home will require significant renovations to make it fully accessible so that John can safely return home.

And when John is finally able to come home, their house will require significant accessibility modifications to make that possible.

There is still so much they simply do not know, and this uncertainty carries a financial burden and strain of its own as they deal with John's life-altering mobility issues.

John and Krystal have spent years giving of themselves to the people around them, and this is our opportunity to help them when they need it the most.
