I started this for my Dad. He's never taken a break, has worked like a dog day and night for everything. He's now in his 50s and he has nothing to show for it, every single dollar he has earned went right into a bill. I love my Dad, hes always been fit and active doing cross country and weight lifting, hes creative I always hear him on his piano making songs and singing, he works on our cars, he builds and crafts us anything and everything, he has his own dreams and goals he still wants to achieve. In November of 2024 he was diagnosed with stage 2 bladder cancer and our family has fallen apart. Our only bathroom in the small house my Dad almost lost in the recession and fought tooth and nail for has black mold in every corner. Every few weeks more tiles fall off exposing more mold underneath, my mom's skin breaks into a rash. My Dad is having frequent ER hospital stays, the bills are piling, he can't work because he's in so much pain. I watched him turn from a strong brick wall into a grey thin shadow. He's been given two years to live if treatment doesn't work. Treatment starts this December, to think he's going to go through hell and back, loose his bladder, is all so scary and how are any of us going to pay for all of this? My mom is a teacher making $14 an hour, she is doing what she loves but could never cover what my Dad pays for. So, here I am, Jessica, his oldest daughter trying to find a way to help give back all the love and sacrifice my Dad went through for us. I'm looking for help, prayers, advice, all of it. I guess my dream with all of this, is to give my Dad some breathing room. Thank you for reading John's story.
