Help John Fight Parkinson's Disease
Donation protected
John Guernsey has lived in Takoma Park for over 40 years and was a 2011 Azalea Award winner, recognized for his contributions to the arts. A beloved jazz pianist, piano teacher, artist, author and producer of musicals, John taught many local children and adults to play jazz and volunteered to write, produce and direct local musicals featuring Takoma teens. A self-described Bohemian, he has always lived frugally and with a revolutionary spirit. Sadly, a few years ago he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and it robbed him of his ability to earn money by stiffening his fingers, giving him double vision, and causing immobility. With no family in the area, John needs home health care on a daily basis but has little money. Can you help? Funds will be used exclusively to pay for home health aides and medical support for John. The situation is urgent. You can also help by buying one of his paintings. Thank you for helping John get the care he urgently needs. Here's John a few years ago with his last art show.

With gratitude from John's friends in Takoma Park.
