Help John Fight Diabetes – A Second Chance for a Brave 9-Year-Old Cat

Hi everyone,

I never imagined I would be writing something like this, but my beloved cat John needs help.

John came into my life in a way I will never forget. When she was about a day old, I heard tiny cries coming from inside a wall. I had no idea what was trapped in there, a kitten, an animal, something hurt, but I just knew something was desperately crying for help. I insisted that maintenance cut a hole in the wall, and inside were two tiny abandoned kittens: John and her sister.

They were only a few days old. From that moment on, I hand-raised them with 24/7 care, bottle feeding, keeping them warm, and watching over them constantly just to keep them alive. They truly grew up in my hands.

Because of that, they are more than pets to me. They are my joy, and I have always done everything I can to care for them and give them the life they deserve.

John is now 9 years old, full of personality, affection, and still the same little fighter she was the day we pulled her from that wall.

Unfortunately, the past few years have brought a series of difficult health challenges for our pets. Two years ago our dog, Jeremiah, was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease. He bravely battled it for a year before we had to say goodbye. His treatment and care were extensive and took a significant emotional and financial toll on our family.

Then, just a few months after losing Jeremiah, John was diagnosed with diabetes. With a lot of careful management and treatment, she was able to go into remission, which felt like such a gift.

Sadly, John is now dealing with diabetes again along with chronic pancreatitis, which requires careful monitoring, medication, and ongoing veterinary care to stabilize her and keep her comfortable. This includes vet visits, lab work, insulin management, and specialized treatment to regulate her blood sugar and support her pancreas.

Our finances are expected to improve in the fall, but right now we are in a difficult window after the years of medical care for Jeremiah and John’s ongoing treatment. Because of that, we are asking for help to support John through this critical time so she can receive the care she needs right now.

This little cat fought to survive from the very beginning of her life. At only 9 years old, she still has many good years ahead, and I am committed to helping her fight once again.
