Help John D get some new wheels after an accident!

Dear Family & Friends,

This past Friday evening, the man we all love so much- my pops, John D was in a car accident. HE IS OKAY.  This is what is most important, and we are all so grateful for this. After a few hours in the ER, they cleared him to go home with just some muscle strains and a sore body. This is amazing, because if you see his car-it's totaled. How he walked out of this accident without a scratch on him is beyond me- but I'd like to think it was a little bit of karma for being an awesome human and a little bit of my Mama watching out for him.

The major bummer though is as I said, he is now without a vehicle. The accident as of yet is undetermined who is at fault, and it's looking like that may be the ultimate ruling. My Dad had a green light and was driving down Higgins, when a truck crossed Higgins right in front of him with no time to stop, so he hit it head on. The other driver also thinks he had a green light, so there isn't really any way right now to determine fault. My pops was driving his prized possession-his ol' trusty Subaru and since it's OLD- he would most likely not get much from insurance anyways.

If you know my Dad- you know that he is a simple man. He has very little possessions and the only thing he really had of "value" was his car. He loves his car, because he loves to travel. He has a lust for life like no other and hits the road any chance he gets to explore funky towns, get out in the boonies and take photos of nature. He is an amazing photographer and after a few pretty rough years, and going through some heavy stuff- I honestly think photography has saved his life. There is no limit to the beauty he can capture when out on the road.
With Covid going on, he has had to stay pretty isolated due to his age and health issues- getting out to camp in his car and take pictures has been his saving grace- until now.

Though I know that this is a difficult time for many, and many do not have extra funds to spare or donate- I thought that this would be a great little fundraiser for a man that has always helped so many, who has always had little but has always been selfless, helpful, and beyond giving to everyone around him. John D is the MAN and is truly a saint, so I thought it would be cool to have some folks rally around him and give back (if you are able).

So, if you had him as a teacher, a friend, a mentor, if he believed in you when no one else did, if he has taken all of the cash out of his pockets and given it to you or your children (his fave thing to do), if he's donated to you or your loved ones or if you just love him and can spare a few dollars to getting him back on the road, doing what he loves- we would greatly appreciate it.

*I should note that he did not want me doing this AT ALL, but in true daughter fashion- I didn't listen. Ha! Because this guy, John D/Jandhi-deserves the world in my opinion. Thank you all, sending so much love to you and yours.
