Help John Ciccone Get Well
Donation protected
On March 25, John Ciccone woke up suddenly with a severe cough, chest pains, and trouble breathing. By early evening the symptoms had become so bad that he went to the emergency room in Key West.
In the emergency room, an X-ray showed what appeared to be a large tumor in most of his left lung and he was immediately helicoptered to a hospital in Miami for a biopsy.
Upon arrival, a CT scan revealed there was no mass but instead had filled with fluid.
John is in critical condition at a hospital in Miami with a severe case of pneumonia. He went into systematic organ failure and septic shock on March 27 and nearly died. He fought back and now is stable and his major vital signs are in the normal range.
John is now stable and doing better -- but he has a long road to recovery. He will be transferred to a medical rehabilitation center in Miami, and will need kidney dialysis three times a week for at least a few months.
Unfortunately, I've been away from home with John staying in hotels and AirBNBs since he was flown here. I'm on family leave from work, thank goodness.
Many of our friends and family have asked what they can do to help. Honestly, we could use some financial support to help with the significant co-pay for the hospital and rehab facilities. In addition, I've blown through our savings in order to stay close by to John.
I hate to ask for help like this -- but if you would like to, we would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!
