Help John Cable Rebuild After Fire

Donation protected
My partner, John Cable, and the entire South River community are devastated by the fire that destroyed dozens of artist studios on the night of 11/12.

The fire started around 4am and burned through much of the building, including John’s shared woodshop, by 7am. Thankfully, no people, dogs, or chickens were hurt ❤️

South River Art Studios is one of Atlanta’s hidden gems, and the community they’ve built there is so special and so vital to a healthy arts ecosystem. Many artists have called those studios home for years.

John has poured years into building his practice and tools, and while i'm grateful he recently brought home two of his carved wood sculptures and a few prints, nearly everything else was lost. Digging through the rubble, he was able to find his Papaw’s toolbox and his vise but all his equipment, materials, and shop setup are gone.

We’re raising funds to help John get re-tooled and back on his feet.
His upcoming jobs are effectively canceled until he can replace basic equipment, and we estimate it will cost around $3,000 just to rebuild the essential tool kit he needs to take on work again. Tools are incredibly expensive, and he had built up his shop over many years.

If you know John, you know how hard he works and how deeply he cares for his community ~ at South River, at The Supermarket, and everywhere he shows up. Any support helps him get back to doing what he does best: creating, building, and supporting others.

Thank you so much for helping us rebuild after this loss. We’re grateful for every share, donation, and kind word... and home depot gift card
