Hi. My name is Alyssa Bottrell. I'm a friend of the Boissy family & I started this fundraiser because I know that medical costs are very high in our country. John, his family & his friends were blindsided by this seizure that happened to him out of the blue. The seizure has totaled a car (as he was driving when the seizure happened), caused a trip to the Emergency Room, an admission to the hospital for more tests & procedures, inpatient rehabilitation, numerous specialty & subspecialty teams’ care, along with obviously a lot of stress, anxiety, lost sleep & missed work opportunity. Subsequently John was diagnosed with a brain tumor & underwent a brian biopsy but unfortunately he suffered multiple complications including a brain bleed & infection which required more medical treatment and ICU-level care in the hospital. This unexpected illness has already impacted the Boissy family so much and we know it's going to continue to impact them as there is more treatment and rehabilitation that John needs. Please, if you are able to contribute to this GoFundMe, it will be used to help the Boissy family defray the medical, car & missed work costs. Any amount is much appreciated! Thank you so much & take care,
Alyssa Bottrell

Update Christmas Day 2023
John I has been officially on unpaid leave from work (FMLA leave). He was discharged home from inpatient rehabilitation on Friday (Dec 22) since he was doing well in rehab & so he could be home for Christmas with the plan to start radiation therapy on the 26th. The aphasia has still been problematic but he made other strides in rehab. His team is agreeable to having a Tumor Board meeting to have all the medical specialists who care for patients with tumors in one place to discuss his case. They are also agreeable to John seeking a second opinion to make sure he is comfortable with the treatment plan being the right plan for him & his diagnosis. Final pathology (sent to U-M & Mayo Clinic) is still pending. Sadly after hours of vomiting at home on Christmas Day his wife Suzanne called an ambulance and he has returned to the hospital.
This has been an unbelievably hard time & I personally think it being the holiday season makes it harder.
Take care all. We appreciate well wishes, sharing this GoFundMe page far & wide, and of course we appreciate donations to help John fight this brain tumor.
