Hello friends and family of the formidable JB John Binetti! If you're reading this, chances are you've been fortunate enough to cross paths with my uncle JB and know first hand just how much of a lovable and memorable person he is. An eternal hype man for his family, friends, nieces, nephews, and of course his two boys Riley and Mason - John is the life of the party and gives a constant show of support to all those he loves. Years of annual backyard Binetti Fests have come and gone with JB graciously opening his doors to friends and family for a place to gather and create incredible (although sometimes a bit hazy) memories with good food, great music, and even better company. When you're with John, you're family, and its clear to me as the years go on just how much JB has a one-of-a-kind presence and heart.
As many of you know, John has been dealt quite a series of blows in his life - first being the tragic loss of his wife Samantha, followed by a series of health complications that have set him back tremendously, and now facing the recent diagnosis of stage 3 cancer - John has continued to fight and show up even in the face of such challenging and heartbreaking circumstances.
Just a couple weeks ago John was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer of the mouth. Scheduled for Dec. 1st, John will need to undergo an extensive 7+ hour surgery to remove the cancer which has unfortunately spread to his lymph nodes. Following the cancer removal, a second surgeon will then use skin grafts to reconstruct the facial tissue in the area where the cancer was removed. With such an invasive surgery, John will need to be hospitalized for approximately 7-10 days, will be required to be fed by feeding tube, and will need a significant amount of time to recover and heal before he can return to everyday life.
The funds raised from your generous donations will go toward unexpected medical bills and financial support for day-to-day expenses and accommodations while John recovers. After starting a new job just this past month, John had to step back with the news of his cancer diagnosis and looming medical treatment and recovery ahead. Furthermore, the doctors are unsure if John will need to undergo radiation or chemo to treat the cancer, but will know more following the surgery on Dec. 1st.
We will keep you posted throughout the process and keep everyone updated on John's recovery. I know times are tough for many, but any amount you can give will help JB get back on his feet and beat this damn thing! For every tip jar John has run through the crowd at a show, for every beer you've shared with "Binett" watching a fight or game, for every dip in the ol' pool at Woodhill or for every time JB complimented you using the term "butta" - here's to rallying together because we owe ya' one, Johnny B!!
With gratitude,
Sarah
(one of JB's many nieces;)
