My name is John I. Bolden II, and I am an 8th grader at Comstock STEM Academy in Michigan. I was named the 2025 Congressional App Challenge Winner for Michigan District 04, represented by Rep. Bill Huizenga, for my app Study Oasis. Study Oasis is an app I created to help students stay organized and focused during their study time. Winning this challenge has been an incredible honor and has given me the opportunity to attend the #HouseofCode winners event in Washington, DC.
The #HouseofCode event is part of the Congressional App Challenge, a nationwide initiative where each U.S. House of Representatives office hosts a district-wide competition for middle and high school students. The challenge encourages students to explore their interest in technology, coding, and STEM by creating original apps that solve real problems. This opportunity allows students like me to showcase our work, connect with other student innovators, and learn from leaders in technology and government.
As a result of winning the Congressional App Challenge, I have been invited to attend #HouseofCode in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, April 21st through Wednesday, April 22nd. During this event, I will be able to showcase my app at the United States Capitol, meet Members of Congress, and connect with students and professionals in the tech community. This experience will help me grow, learn, and inspire other students to believe that young people can create meaningful projects.
To make this trip possible, I am raising funds to help cover the costs associated with attending #HouseofCode, including travel to Washington, DC, lodging during the event, and other event-related expenses. Your support will help make it possible for me to take full advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The Congressional App Challenge is designed to inspire students from all backgrounds to pursue interests in STEM and technology. Being part of this experience motivates me to continue learning and encourages other students to explore opportunities in technology and innovation.
