Help John and Stephanie Rebuild After Flood

My name is Michele, I'm in Florida, and my best friend of 38 years, John Lenz and his longtime girlfriend, Stephanie Bennett, could really use some assistance with getting back on their feet. After dealing with the aftermath of hurricane Helene, they would get dealt a hand no one would or could ever fathom. While tons of debris lies waiting to be cleaned/picked up, a thunderstorm hits the area where they live, in the Chadwyck Subdivision in Valdosta, GA. With no warning, definitely no time to prepare, as it hit in the wee hours of the night/morning. Their area was hit with 17 inches of rain on Wednesday evening, November the 6th. With the sounds of an alarm coming from their phones, they woke up to ankle-deep water. Within an hours time, it was up to their knees.

Sadly their renter's insurance is not going to cover anything that was lost. The Red Cross isn't going to help either because of a simple measurement rule. The water in their house reached 16 inches, not 18 inches. If the water level had reached 18 inches, then the Red Cross would have helped in some capacity. Water wasn't able to flow properly because of said debris mentioned earlier.

They lost EVERYTHING! Think about the items that get placed in your bottom/lower cabinets in your kitchen and bathrooms. GONE! They were able to salvage a TV, their dining table and chairs and a few pieces of clothing. Water even got in and flooded their only means of transportation. Two people, one vehicle to get back and forth to doctors appointments and work. Sadly, the vehicle has since been totalled. Think about the cost of having to eat out for every meal? That's at least 3 times a day. The cost for a storage unit for what was salvaged. The cost of a rental car every day. The cost of trying to replace your bare minimums, like socks, shoes, under garments, etc. ANYTHING will mean the world to them!

Any funds they receive will be used to replace basic necessity type items. IE; clothing, food, temporary housing, rental car needs, furniture replacement and any and all necessary items lost due to this disaster, which is separate from hurricane Helene.
