Help John and Sherri Rebuild After Helene
Donation protected
Hurricane Helene caused massive damage (estimates are between $30-$50 billion), and many homes along the western coast of Florida were damaged beyond repair from seawater and raw sewage. Lives were completely disrupted, and cherished belongings dating back generations were lost or ruined.
John and Sherri Hurlburt experienced extensive damage to their home in Redington Beach (between Clearwater and St. Petersburg). They bought their home in 2019 and both the initial purchase and subsequent renovation work took up much of their life savings. What they had hoped would be their forever home in retirement was wiped out, along with a car and so many precious heirlooms and memories. Like hundreds of thousands of fellow Floridians, the Hurlburts could not afford the $14,000 yearly premium for flood and hurricane insurance. They were able to escape with just two changes of clothes and their cat.
Friends of the Hurlburts, along with Links Players International, are overseeing a GoFundMe to help them get back on their feet. They are currently (and gratefully) in a small apartment in Clearwater, and are hopeful to raise enough funds to raze or restore the house they lived in and then put their property on the market in order to move closer to family (most likely in Arizona).
Thank you for your prayerful consideration to help our friends John and Sherri! They greatly appreciate both your generosity and your prayers.
