On July 27, 2025, our dear friends John Buchanan and Peggy Frederick Buchanan (co-owner of Corner Café Restaurant) suffered a life changing event. This was John’s 63rd birthday and one he will never forget.

John suffered a massive stroke on the right side of his brain resulting in total paralysis of his left side. When Peggy found John, she of course called 911 and after the ambulance arrived, he was taken directly to the hospital, where he remains. Multiple tests have been run to determine the extent of damage, and the good news is his brain is intact!!! Trust me when I tell you this as he has shown us his knowledge, wit and sarcasm every day!!! It may take a minute to get the words out, but they are there as sharp as ever!! And his smile, while only on the right side, is big and beautiful along with those blue eyes that we all know.

But…………John and Peggy have a very long road ahead of them. They are currently looking for a rehab facility as he will need at least 3-4 weeks of acute inpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy and then will need to continue with outpatient therapy for an undetermined period of time – possibly years. In fact, the big unknown John and Peggy have right now is TIME – no one can determine how much time recovery will take.

Needless to say, Peggy must continue to work. Unfortunately, John was not employed at the time this happened so there are no benefits for him to receive. As a result, we are reaching out to you to ask for your financial support for John and Peggy. Anything you can donate will be much appreciated and used directly for John’s care.
