UPDATE
John is going to have to have abother surgery to repair his hand.
Maria has returned to work but is still having dizziness and headaches. She has to see a neurologist.
These funds will help pay their copay, deductables, constance, and bills.
On 10/17/24, John Schlosser and Maria Bencomo were riding his motorcycle in Claypool when an SUV turned left in front of them. Both were airlifted to a valley trauma hospital. Maria, thankfully, was released on 10/19/24. However, she will not be able to return to work for a while.
John is still in the hospital as of 10/20/24 and should be transferred to an acute rehab center in the next few days. He has had a hip replacement, pins put in two places in his hand, and seven broken ribs.
The doctors are optimistic about his prognosis but have emphasized the importance of following a strict rehabilitation plan- This will include having to take time away from his career as a firefighter with the San Carlos Fire Dept.
The rehabilitation process will likely take several months. The accident has been a shock to their family and friends, who have rallied around to offer support during this difficult time. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with medical expenses and lost wages.
This accident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for all drivers to remain vigilant, especially when sharing the road with motorcyclists.
