Help John and Justine Recover From House Fire
Donation protected
Hi, our names are Kaitlynn and Brenna MacIsaac (Justine's sisters) and Laura Screnci (John's sister). Justine and her fiance, John, will be together 10 years this May and are set to marry in early June.
On March 16th, 2023, at approximately 7pm, their home suddenly caught fire. Thankfully, Justine, John, and their dogs, Maggie and Nucky, are okay with minor injuries. John suffered the worst of the injuries, getting second-degree burns along both his arms and right shoulder.
The fire has completely and in totality destroyed their home. When they moved into this home in October of 2021, their forever home, they knew it was one they never would want to leave. The fire was severe enough that everything is destroyed. And now Justine and John are not only homeless, but they've lost everything they have ever owned. The fire department and police repeatedly told the family that almost nothing will be salvageable. They have lost all of their belongings. The ceiling collapsed in the living room and the house was flooded in the process of extinguishing the fire.
John and Justine both have new medical bills due to the fire and vet bills to treat their dogs for smoke inhalation and pneumobronchitis. This is only the beginning of their expenses as they now have to essentially start over from nothing.
There are so many things that can never be replaced.
I created this GoFundMe for them because they need help with expenses that are immediate and overwhelming. No one wants to ask for money to help but they are amazing people and did not deserve this tragedy to happen. I ask that if you have anything to spare to please help their family during this terrible time. If you are unable to donate, please think good thoughts for them.
For full transparency regarding their wedding: everything is already mostly paid for. If they were to cancel the wedding, it would cause them and their guests to lose a significant amount of money. Many guests have already made travel arrangements and accommodations.
Thank you to the brave people from the Lake Carmel and Kent Fire Departments, Carmel Police Department, The American Red Cross, and the Paramedics who transported John.
