Help John after a carjacking attempt

This campaign has been updated....updates in bold.

My Brother John was victim of an attempted carjacking, and I'm raising money to help him replace his car and tooth repair from the pistol whipping.  Everybody has been so generous, and I thank you.  Unfortunately, John's insurance company has declared his car to be totaled, so instead of this campaign funding the deductible, it will be to help him replace his car.  Sorry to move the goal posts on you all, but every little bit is needed.

Here's the story:
John was pulled over to the side of the road in Minneapolis, when a car pulled up next to him and three guys got out and approached my brother in his car.  One of them threw open the driver side door and told him to get out or he was going to shoot him.  They tried to grab his phone.  He then smacked my brother on the side of the head with his pistol. 


John threw the car in reverse and gunned it to get clear of the car they had used to box him in, and pulled out on to the road...but not before one of them had jumped into the back seat.  As John sped down the road, the guy in the back of the car repeated the threat, and then pistol whipped him on the other side of his face, breaking one of my brother's teeth.


John swerved over and intentionally drove his car into a parked truck, and the guy fled from John's car.


I want to raise funds to help my brother replace his car (the insurance company has declared it totaled), and to fix his busted tooth.

Your help is very much appreciated.  We are all so grateful that John is ok, and yeah we think he is a bit crazy for taking armed robbers on, but as John put it, "I probably would have gotten out of the car before he hit me, and then something in me just clicked and I went into action."

The police told John he was the 53rd victim so far this year in Minneapolis.  None of the perpetrators have been caught yet.
