Help John Get the Rehab He Desperately Needs After a Life-Altering Stroke
On May 6th, our brother John, age 60, suffered a major stroke while traveling in Missouri. The stroke left him with severely impaired speech and no movement or function in his left hand, foot, arm, or leg. Right now, John cannot walk, sit up, eat, or even use the bathroom without partial or oftentimes full assistance depending on the activity.
The only path forward is intensive inpatient rehabilitation—but John is currently uninsured. His insurance was terminated last year, and although we've applied for Medicaid, it could take weeks to be approved. The tragic reality is that stroke recovery is extremely time-sensitive. Every day that passes without rehab decreases his chance of regaining mobility and independence.
John urgently needs access to rehab now, not weeks from now. The hospital here in Missouri has quoted us roughly $2,500 per day for inpatient rehabilitation, which could be life-changing for John if we can get him in quickly. Our immediate goal is to raise enough funds to cover the first phase of his rehab privately while we await Medicaid approval.
John is single and has no spouse or significant other to help provide care or income. He also faces the looming costs of medical transport just to return home to Indiana—on top of growing hospital debt.
We are calling out for help on his behalf. Your generosity will go directly toward:
- Funding immediate inpatient rehab to give John the best chance at recovery
- Covering medical transport costs to get him safely back to Indiana
- Assisting with critical medical expenses until longer-term support is in place
Anything you can give will make a meaningful difference. Thank you for your love, your support, and your prayers during this incredibly difficult time for our family.
