My name is Johanna Batterton and I study chemistry and environmental studies at Haverford College in Philadelphia, PA! I'm raising money to help me go to Iceland this winter to study renewable energy and sustainability in the greenest country on earth with the GREEN Program!
Out of this experience, I will gain a deeper understanding of the world's most advanced renewable energy systems in the fields of hydroelectricity, geothermal, wind power and biofuels. This industry exposure will be essential to my future career as I plan on going to graduate school for environmental engineering with a focus in renewable energy and sustainability.
Through this program, I will also be making key connections with faculty from the Iceland School of Energy at Reykjavik University that will provide me with professional networking tools within the green-energy industry. After my lecture sessions from industry leaders and faculty from the Iceland School of Energy Master’s Program, I will be able to approach my course-work with dynamic real-world applications from this educational program!
Your financial support will go towards the tuition for the Renewable Energy and Sustainability program hosted by the GREEN Program. These costs include:
- 5 lectures from industry leaders and faculty from the Iceland School of Energy Master’s Program
- Exclusive access to world leading hydroelectric, biofuel, geothermal and wind energy facilities
- 3 ECTS or 1.5 US academic credits transferable from Reykjavik University’s School of Science and Engineering
- Capstone Project facilitation and panel.
- Icelandic adventure excursions (super jeeping, glacier walks, caving, glacier snorkeling, hot springs, Golden Circle tour, and more!)
- Pre-program renewable energy overview online module
- Automatic advancement in Iceland School of Energy at Reykjavik University’s Master’s Program application process
- Access to directors at renewable energy companies
- All breakfasts, lunches, dinners with local cuisine (*We accommodate vegetarian diets)
- Lodging in various locations throughout the program
- All in-country transportation
- 2,000,000ISK of in-country medical insurance
- Post-program letters of recommendation
- Exclusive membership to the GREEN Alumni Network
Thank you for investing in me, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I cannot wait to partake in!
